II. Well-Organised Structure

Advice:
  • Formulate one thought per paragraph.
  • Do not make the paragraphs too long: on average, a paragraph has six sentences and ten lines.
  • Preferably, write smaller paragraphs which are always divided by one blank line instead of long paragraphs.
  • Use linking words such as 'first of all', 'additionally', 'as well', etc.
Shorter paragraphs improve text comprehension. Signal words, reference words or linking words develop coherence between sentences and paragraphs.
